For the month of October and November 2011 will contribute to the humanitarian aid the Horn of Africa

Horn of Africa is experiencing its worst food crisis today, which falls hardest on Somalia. In the first half of 2011, the number of people in need of immediate humanitarian assistance rose to 2.85 million and this number will most likely continue to grow. United Nations has declared two areas of Somalia famine. The situation in Somalia has an impact on other countries in the region as thousands of Somalis fled to neighboring Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya.

Crisis affects nearly 12 million people and this number increases with each passing day. Three of the five Somali children who come into refugee camps in Ethiopia suffer from malnutrition. The camps are full, but every day more people are added and there are reported cases of acute diarrheal diseases. Refugees have no access to clean water and suffer from various diseases.

ADRA distributes food in the area (rice, sugar, beans, salt and oil) and provided assistance to 776 families, more than 4500 people and continues to do humanitarian aid to the affected region.

For the month of June, July, August and September 2011 the money will go to Haiti to Petit Goave, to support local agriculture.

Haiti is the poorest country in the northern hemisphere and foreign aid for the country is absolutely necessary. Although democracy was re-established here in 2006, Haiti's economy remains in a disastrous state - the majority of the population lives on less than two dollars a day.

In recent years, Haiti has been repeatedly exposed to bad elements - tropical storms and hurricanes in 2008 and the catastrophic earthquake in 2010.

ADRA CR started to assist Haiti in Petit Goave immediately after the disaster, initially focused on humanitarian aid (distribution of tents, farm sets, basic sanitation package, etc.), then participated in the construction of temporary housing (shelter) and the restoration of water resources. Now, with continued development in agriculture.
